Oh, my aching back.

Okay, it's really my leg that's been killing me, but it's caused by my back.

There's nothing else left to be done. I've tried it all over the past few months.

Laminectomy on September 5.

Maybe then, life will get back to normal.

Had to look that one up. Sounds serious. I hope you have also tried a good chiropractor. Few years ago I had been down a similar road with all the medical stuff and surgery was the next thing. I was almost crippled by the pain in my legs.

Roomie suggested I try a chiropractor (I didn't believe in them) because I had nothing to lose. I did and after 3 sessions my pain was gone and has not returned. And I do not keep going back for "maintenance adjustments" like they want you to.

If you do have the surgery, best wishes with it and a speedy recovery!

It's a little serious, but not being able to do everyday things for months on end seems far more so. I've tried my best not to complain (the pain is unbelievable), but fear I've failed miserably.

Rest assured that I have tried everything, including four epidural injections that were no fun either. I had the same problem about five years ago ("it's common in older mothers") with a different disc, and the surgery worked wonders. I also suffered for months prior to that one, too.

And, Winston, I'm now so doped up all the time, I can't stand myself. Because of my history, I fear taking these painkillers for too long. I can't handle being addicted to anything again. So this is it. I guess it is what it is.

Thanks for your good wishes.

I had to look it up too. Nasty.

Good luck with the op (remind me nearer the date so I can pray too!)

Oh, geez - are any of us immune to back pain? Nothing worse. My favorite doctor line is: "Lie flat for two weeks." Uh-huh. What universe do you live in, Doc? Had the muscle relaxers and once in a while hit the chiropractor. Hot baths are about the only relief. And gin, of course. ;-) We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers - and let us know how it turns out!
